Abdi-Basid Adan, born July 23, 1993, in Ali-Sabieh, Djibouti, embodies the new generation of African researcher-entrepreneurs. Holding a Master's in Statistical Methods and Econometrics from Cheikh Anta Diop University, he works at the intersection of data science, climate research, and technological innovation. As Associate Researcher at CERD since 2018, he develops geospatial models for climate analysis. His expertise led to research internships at the University of Burgundy, yielding nine peer-reviewed publications. Beyond academia, Abdi-Basid demonstrates remarkable entrepreneurial drive. In 2017, he founded tABCi, a training institute in econometrics and data science. In 2024, he launched HMD, a stealth-mode company developing sustainable urban mobility solutions. He is also Founder and Editor-in-Chief of The ABC Insights Journal, a dedicated interdisciplinary research platform. A prolific author, he has published works blending economic essays, philosophical reflection, and poetry. His commitment to energy transition and sustainable development in East Africa reflects a holistic vision combining scientific rigor, literary creativity, and concrete societal impact.
